The space was a two week installation that was treated as a single piece.  The objects that were in the space for first week are part of the history of the space and can be discussed through observation or memory.  The transition of the space is part of the discussion of access and the variations of experience one has depending on that access.

ACCESS/

PRIVILEGE

  • Access to spaces depending on class defined by socio-economics

  • Space appears "void" of work.  Access to the "upper" work is through two avenues.  Online access allows colored and specific labels for work shown through series, allowing  a more informed experience.

  • Book allows access in traditional methods.  Access can be achieved but with a loss of quality and information, ironically after more work to access.

  • Opportunity in the elevated spaces (education, arts, )

  • “JUST OUT OF TOUCH”/ “ FACE TO THE GLASS”/  “TRANSLUCENT”

  • Glass ceiling / change of space cause reflection for limited access for disabilities

  • This is what some can see.  The outside but not the inside.

OBSERVER EFFECT

  • If you see the actual work, does it effect experience.

  • You become part of the work or "observed"

FORMAL QUALITIES

  • Uses space, materials and room to change presentation of traditional modalities  (Horizontal canvas)

  • Many small events that occur throughout the piece

  •  A/C is above and basic utilities below

  • Perception changes in Ambient temperature, light, physical alteration of space
